The Pink Slime Your Child Is Eating and 5 Things You Can Do About It.

Pink Slime.  The new hot topic.  What exactly is it?  It is leftover beef product that is treated with ammonia to kill bacteria.  The result is a pink substance that is the consistency of well…soft serve ice cream.

Have you or your kids eaten pink slime?  Most likely YES, unless you never go out to eat, you always pack their school lunches and you only buy organic meat.

While I obviously don’t like pink slime, I do love that it is raising people’s awareness about the food we eat.  Just because something is on the shelves of a store does not mean it is healthy!  It can be “generally regarded as safe“.

You can do something about pink slime (and other icky food out there).

  1. Start talking to your grocer.
  2. Start talking to your school district.
  3. Start purchasing from local farmers or purchase organic meat.
  4.  Increase your knowledge of the food you buy. Become an informed consumer.
  5. Sign this petition.

Corporations will remove it if there is enough customer demand.  So I encourage you- BE DEMANDING WITH YOUR POCKETBOOK!

Schools do have the option if they want to use it – so let your voice be heard!

Isn’t your child’s health worth it?

In health,
