5 Tips for Child Rearing Made Easy

I hear so many parents say, “Sit down.  Stop it. Come here.  Ugh! Oh, forget it.”  Sadly, the child just learned that they have power over the adult.

Raising a family should not be a power struggle, yet it is become that for so many parents.  They are exhausted and don’t know why!

Child rearing and parenting might not be easy, but it can be simple.  Here is a great example along with 5 Tips for Child Rearing Made Easy…

Example: Driving home the other day I saw a mother pushing her child in a stroller. The girl started to stand up.  Immediately the mother stopped walking, gave the daughter an instruction to sit in sign language and waited.  She did not move the stroller – she effectively ended the ride until the daughter sat down.  The mother gave the sign again and the daughter promptly sat down.  The mother continued her stroll.

What an easy way to raise a child and what an easy way for the child to know the boundaries!

Here are 5 simple tips to raise a happy, healthy child.

  1. State Expectations  — Say, “When we are walking I expect you to sit in the stroller or I will have to stop.”
  2. Stay Calm If your child forgets and stands up.  Gently, but firmly remind them.
  3. Follow ThroughDon’t give in, stop the stroller ride.  Patience now creates less work later. Do not take the “easy” way out.  It will be much harder later if you do, guaranteed!
  4. Praise the child for listening  —Say, “Thank you for listening.”
  5. Continue on your day.  Talk about the trees, flowers, etc.  Move on to another subject.

Practice these 5 positive parenting steps and in a short time you will find parenting and raising children much more enjoyable.  You will also have more time for fun on walks and other activities.
