Kids healthy lunch ideas

Every morning I pack my kids lunch and think, “what healthy lunch ideas can I incorporate today?”   My kids will eat fried seaweed so they are no strangers to “different” food.   My secret, just always serve healthy.  If healthy is the option, they will eat it, feel great and thus, continue to eat well.

Today’s healthy lunch idea was

steak, cucumbers, snow peas and brocolli.  The veggies were all raw and in tiny little containers.  My boys think it is fun to open a bunch of things up.  The steak was steamed this morning (cooked last night) and placed in a thermos.  Oh and I can’t forget the tiny little ketchup containers shaped like pigs!

If food is fun kids will eat it.  Open up dialogue about being healthy.  Talk to your kids -help them make the connection that healthy food means their body will feel good.

Too many times parents try to “sneak” in healthy.  You have to be upfront that healthy food makes a healthy body.  Ask them questions like, “Do you want to be able to run fast?  Do you want to be able to throw or kick a ball far?  etc.”  Get kids talking.  Don’t underestimate the power of them wanting to feel good.

Happy eating~
