Healthy kids snacks for the car trip!

Going on a road trip with your kids does not have to mean junk food.  Make Kids’  Creations!  Healthy kids snacks are easy and fun, especially if kids are involved in making the snack.

When kids create their own recipe they will not only have fun, but also look forward to eating it.
In the picture above, Cole and Dakota are choosing from peanuts, almonds, cashews, raisins, dried pineapple and chocolate covered sunflower seeds.  These creations will keep their little hands busy on the trip while providing them with tons of nutrients.  Not to mention they will be full from all of the nuts, eliminating cries of, “mom, I’m hungry.  Can we stop?”

Here are a just a  few of the nutritional benefits of this snack:

Nuts: provide omega 3’s (fabulous for the brain) and protein.

Almonds:  vitamin E, magnesium, calcium

Peanuts: folate, vitamin B3 & B6

Cashews: magnesium and iron

Raisins: iron

Pineapple: helps the body digest protein (great pairing with nuts)

Growing kids need healthy fats.  Healthy fats are responsible for brain function, like mood and memory, plus a host of other things in our bodies.  Do a search for healthy fats to learn more why our bodies need healthy fats.  Some vitamins need fat in order to be absorbed into our bodies!

Here is a picture of the finished product.

Send us pictures from your vacation Kids’ Creations for a chance to be included in an upcoming post!

In health,

Summer
